OMG! Winter season has arrived in Northern India and it’s very cold outside. So comes the soup season also.
Although, let’s be honest – I would not be unhappy if I had to eat this for 12 months of the year. I love this homemade tomato soup so much.
Can I tell you a secret? This homemade tomato soup starts with tomato, carrots, onion, and some minor ingredients that are found in the kitchen easily.
Here’s what we’re working with:
- Some fresh veggies like carrots, onion, and garlic.
- Yummy herbs like coriander and bay leaf.
- Tomatoes (obviously).
- Cream. Because, of course.
Wow! The aroma is so extraordinary, out of the world. In addition, I want to tell you that tomato soup tastes excellent with garlic bread or toast. These two things just enhance the flavor a lot. Homemade Tomato Soup

If you don\\\’t have a hand blender, you can mash tomatoes with your hands too.
Ingredients
- Carrots – 2 (chopped)
- Onion – 1 (chopped)
- Garlic – 4 cloves (cloves)
- Tomato sauce – 1 1/2 tablespoons
- Flour – 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable broth – 4 cups
- Bay Leaf – 1
- Tomatoes – 200 grams (chopped)
- Cream – for seasoning
- Salt – as required
Instructions
- At first, fry chopped onion in a pan, add bay leaf and chopped garlic to it. Fry until it becomes translucent.
- Add the carrots, in the pan; sauté for 5-10 minutes until tit becomes aromatic and tender.
- After that, add the tomato paste – stir for a few minutes until you can see/smell the tomato paste starting to brown and caramelize. Add the flour and stir for a minute or so.
- Now add the tomatoes and sauce into a bowl and crush them using a blender or your hands. Add the crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, and salt to the soup pot.
- Let it simmer for 30 minutes. Puree in batches and return to the pot. Add cream if you want. Season with coriander.
