The basics of healthy food eating
To sustain a healthy body, we require a good collaboration of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals in our food. We can either consult a food dietician or we can go with our gut feeling to opt for a portion of healthy food.
Protein is essential for our body, it supports our cognitive function and offers us energy. Protein quantity must be higher as we grow old, but it isn’t essential to rely on animal-based protein – plant-based protein is an excellent alternative.
Carbohydrates, like protein, is another main energy sources. However, we require carbohydrates from whole grains, fruits, and vegetables instead of refined carbs. Fat, which has a rich amount of omega-4s are essential to our physical and emotional health. Healthy fat protects our brain and heart against ailments. Whereas fiber improves the skin and helps to maintain weight
Now, let’s discuss the tips and tricks for a healthy diet –
- Cook for yourself – When we prepare food for us, it eventually forms a healthy diet as we know what ingredients and amount of such ingredients we have utilized to cook. We cannot guarantee ever what the restaurant is offering and if they are using fresh ingredients or not. Packaged and takeout food must be avoidable as they contain excess sugar and calories, we feel lazy, tired, depressed and anxiety after consuming.
- Choose wisely – Selecting a better alternative of oily or sugary food is more essential. When we replace unhealthy trans fat with healthy fat it ultimately gives a positive impact to our body.
- Be aware of the constituents – Then comes the number of constituents in the item, we’re consuming. We must avoid items that carry excess sugar or unhealthy fats like in soft drinks and donuts.
- Observe the after-eating impact – Well, honestly tell you that you cannot judge a food by looking at it every time. You have to eat it and how are you feeling after consumption is a major thing. If you’re uncomfortable, tired or nauseate after eating then you can’t consider that as a healthy diet.
- Drink lots of water – The intake of water leads to flush out the waste products and toxins from our body. Therefore, water is a vital component of a healthy diet.
- Eat small meals – We must consider this trick every time. Sometimes we eat too much in one meal that we avoid eating after that or we consume so less that it eventually weakens our body. Therefore, I suggest you take 5 meals per day but in small quantities instead of 3. You can add salad and fruits in between lunch and dinner.
- Limit the Snacks – I don’t know about you, but I was a big snack food lover. Also, to stay on the path of a healthy diet I have decreased my snack food intake so much. I have surrounded myself with good healthy choices such as fruit salad and homemade soups.
- Increase the fruits and vegetable intake – Fruits and veggies contain fiber and antioxidants, which helps in maintaining body weight. Fruits such as apple, bananas, berries, and grapes are so beneficial. On the other hand, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and snow peas have to be consumed every day.
- Plan your meal in advance – Healthy diet starts with excellent planning. To stay on the path, you need perfect planning and your planning must be precise so that you won’t lose track. I plan my food diet 3 weeks ahead.
In the end, what we can know is that a healthy diet leads to healthy living. When we eat fresh fruits and veggies, it eventually leads to the betterment of our metabolism. Also, the release of harmful toxins is as important and intake of 5 liters of water every day is advisable. If you consider the above tips and tricks you will have a perfectly healthy diet!
