Matar paneer is one of the most popular vegetarian Indian cuisines. It’s extremely popular in North India. In this recipe, we cook cheese (paneer) and garden peas with tomato puree. You can consume matar paneer with chapatti or with parantha.

Ingredients for Matar Paneer: –
- Vegetable Oil – 1 tablespoon (olive oil recommended)
- Cheese – 250 grams
- Green Cardamoms – 2
- Black pepper – 3
- Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon
- Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
- Green chillies – 2
- Tomatoes – 2 medium in size (puree)
- Bay Leaf – 1
- Coriander powder – ½ teaspoon
- Garam Masala – ½ teaspoon
- Cumin powder – ½ teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
- Salt – ¾ teaspoon
- Green peas – 1 cup for 4 people Coriander – to garnish
How to Easily Make Matar Paneer?
At the start, soak the cheese and peas in warm water for 20 minutes. After that, add vegetable oil in a pan or pot on medium heat. Then add green cardamoms, coriander powder, black pepper, and cumin seeds and sauté for few seconds until you get the fragrance from the spices.
After that, add chopped onions, bay leaf, and green chilli; cook for 5 minutes until onions are golden – brown.
Then add tomato puree, add salt, sauté and cover the pot, let it cook for 7 minutes.
Add peas and cheese at this mixture and sauté well. Add garam masala, stir and cover the pan. In this way, you can cook this recipe!
Sprinkle some green coriander over it and serve well with parantha and chapatti.
